WOW Festival: Rasha Nahas in London

Haifa born, Berlin based Palestinian singer, songwriter and guitarist Rasha Nahas will be presenting two performances at London’s Women of the World Festival, performing new material from her upcoming album “AMRAT” to be released this summer.

Rasha Nahas will be playing two stripped back sets, creating a sound that moves seamlessly between the resonances of early rock ‘n’ roll and the reckless echoes of free jazz, complemented by her distinctive approach to songwriting, storytelling and performance.

The show on the 11th of March will see her showcase musical creations both past and present, giving a sneak preview of some of her upcoming releases. Rasha’s performance on the 12th will come as part of the Saturday at WOW program, where she will be scoring the obituaries of some of the world’s most influential women

To coincide with her London performance,  Rasha Nahas, will be releasing a brand new single “Ya Binti” (My Daughter) from her upcoming Arabic language album (coming out this this summer). Accompanied by her distinct guitar melodies and silky voice, Rasha’s latest release is a delicate ballad and ode of love to an ephemeral self of younger days.

Her debut full-length album, ‘Desert’ chronicled a personal and political journey from Palestine to Germany and back again, and reached critical acclaim with reputable features such as BBC Radio 4’s long standing show Loose Ends.

Weaving between singer-songwriter acoustic tracks inspired by her homeland to deeper electronic sounds influenced by a more chaotic urban life, Rasha now turns to her first recorded works in Arabic language, exploring themes of home, belonging, spirituality, doubt, freedom and her relationship with her mother-tongue.

Please note that her performance on the 11th March at the Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer has been moved to 8pm (as opposed to the original 05:15pm)
